• work in the margins and on the edges • notice, record, replay • the city is palimpsest and flow and work in progress • refuse to be an insider • refuse to be an outsider, be something else entirely (the self-edge) • walk on the cracks, or move in other ways, or simply be in a place, staying still and paying attention • note the transitory and overlooked, the details, the dirt, the unplanned, the disintegrating, the imaginary • literally scribbling in margins is also good • trace the stories that have been erased and overwritten • use the balconies • observe the tracks people leave on places and places leave on people • feel the city • sometimes everything is random • sometimes everything is connected • change the frame, alter reality
